Deloitte’s Workplace Burnout Survey found that:

Employee burnout has no boundaries: 91 percent of respondents say having an unmanageable amount of stress or frustration negatively impacts the quality of their work.

Passion may not prevent workplace stress: 87 percent of professionals surveyed say they have passion for their current job but 64 percent say they are frequently stressed, dispelling the myth that passionate employees are immune to stress or burnout.

• Many companies may not be doing enough to minimize burnout: Nearly 70 percent of professionals feel their employers are not doing enough to prevent or alleviate burnout within their organization. 21 percent of respondents say their company does not offer any programs or initiatives to prevent or alleviate burnout.

• Companies should consider workplace culture, not just well-being programs: The top driver of burnout cited in the survey is lack of support or recognition from leadership, indicating the important role that leaders play in setting the tone.

How do you know if someone on your team is on the verge of burnout?

WITH MY RESILIENCY ASSESSMENT

Most resiliency tests only measure the ability to deal with stress mentally and emotionally. But the physiological responses to stress are critical factors that should never be ignored. The chemical and hormonal responses to stress directly affect the structure of your brain in addition to how it functions, both mentally as well as emotionally.

When members of your team take the Resiliency Assessment, they learn:

Their Mental Resiliency Score – Stress determines what parts of the brain we have access to, which highly influences our mental and cognitive abilities. Factors measured are: productivity, engagement, being distracted, loss of mental energy, too much thinking about things to accomplish, losing focus and concentration, increased distraction, loss of memory and forgetfulness, mental fatigue and inability to relax.

Their Emotional Resiliency Score – Stress affects our ability to access a positive mood state as well as make rational, sound decisions. Factors measured are: engagement, confidence, feeling overwhelmed, ability to cope, negativity, defensiveness, being upset, nervousness, anger, sadness, depression and worry.

Their Physical Resiliency Score – Stress highly influences our chemistry and physiology. Factors measured are: physical energy, fatigue, sleep, health, time spent sitting, cravings, meals, snacks, eating regularly, cardiovascular exercise, interval training, resistance training, body fat distribution, intake of caffeine, alcohol, sugared soda and water, aches/pains, heart rate, breathing, muscle tension, immunity and nicotine and tobacco usage.

Their Overall Resiliency Score – The Resiliency Assessment provides valuable information on how their current behaviors are either hindering or helping their resilience, and direction on what areas need improvement.

This resilience scale will:

• Give you an insight as to how well your team, organization or audience is truly dealing with the stress in their lives
• Create a baseline measurement of stress, burnout, and resiliency in a quantitative way to measure improvement in the future
• Provide an objective analysis of the areas of strength and struggle
• Inform your decisions on where to invest training and resources to meet the highest needs

Being resilient does not mean you do not experience stress. Rather, resilience is the ability to recover from stress efficiently and effectively, as well as to have a higher threshold for it. It’s a combination of behaviors, thoughts and actions that can be developed through training.

Combined with a keynote, workshop or ongoing programming, the Resiliency Assessment is the first step in taking your team or organization from feeling over it to on it…from exhausted to engaged.
